When a message is edited, you see all of its earlier versions, text and photos included.

How to turn it on
Tap “Settings” at the bottom of the screen.
Tap the gold “Novagram Settings” row.
In the Chat section, make sure “Edited message history” is on.
In a chat, press and hold a message marked “edited” → “Edit History”.
Result
Every version of the message appears in order, each with its time.
